Canada’s first national database devoted to parks, recreation, and sports facilities and infrastructure is now live!
Developed by ActiveXchange in collaboration with the Canadian Parks and Recreation Association, the Canadian Parks, Recreation, and Sport Infrastructure Database is designed to centrally collate information about sport and recreation facilities across all local communities in Canada, including location, size, amenities and age. Therefore allowing municipalities, facility operators, national and provincial/territorial sports organizations, and not-for-profits serving the sport and recreation sector to use and gain unique insights regarding facility infrastructure in their community.
The database drives insight provided by built-in features, including:
- Geographic mapping interface to view sites, facilities, and where activities/sports are played. Aerial imagery and Canadian census boundary overlays included.
- Crowd-sourced, verified, and actively managed roster of parks, sports, and recreation sites and facilities across Canada.
- Community Profile Mapping illustrating populations, health, and wellness demographic profiles at neighbourhood, city, and provincial/territorial geographies across the country.
- Determine the proximity of facility provisions to various equity-deserving populations and demographic groups.
- Dashboard highlighting nation-wide infrastructure and facility metrics and benchmarks, including flexible and per capita counts, divisible by geographic and characteristic parameters.
- Ability to make infrastructure comparisons across provinces, territories, municipalities, and communities.
- Movement Mapping module illustrating the casual, typically non-measured, use of active environments over time and across periods of the year.

Therefore, we encourage you to add and update the site and facility information owned or operated by your organization and for any site or facility you frequently visit.
The Canadian Parks, Recreation, and Sport Infrastructure Database is a shared database where all users benefit from the shared quantity and quality of infrastructure data contained.
